The Gifford Family .... Locals since 1895

The Gifford Family originally settled in Cobb - 1895

Ken's grandfather originally settled in Cobb and worked in the logging industry and at the local Mercury mines. Pictured starting on the left is his father Bill Gifford, his Grandfather Herbert Gifford, and his great grandfather.

Up until the Valley Fire in 2015, Ken and Linda lived in the original home from 1895 at the top of Gifford Springs Road. The home had become a family heirloom and was treasured by many for the rich history it provided.

1947 - 1968

Ken's parents, Bill and Florence Gifford, opened Gifford Springs Resort in 1947. This is where Ken and his sister were born and raised. The resort flourished during the prime era in Cobb along with Hoberg's Resort, Forest Lake Resort, and many more.

During this time Bill Gifford developed the three subdivisions located on Gifford Springs Road. He also was responsible for installing and managing the original water system which is now operated by Cobb Water Company.

Gifford Springs Resort was eventually sold and later became what was known as Starview Lodge.
